Kibera Women PSS Project in Cooperation with Kilimanjaro Initiative

BMC will partner with Kiliminjaro Initiative beginning in January 2019 to provide Group Therapy for Women in Kibera, Nairobi’s largest informal settlement. This program aims to provide 20 young women between the ages of 19 and 35 years of age with vocational, leadership, financial and life skills training so that they can set up two businesses that will not only generate income but also make them role models within the community. The understanding and self-belief the young women will gain from the psycho-social support will allow them to assist with mental health-based forums and provide further outreach amongst other young women in Kibera. The project will aim to affect the lives of 140 young women in its first year and with its sustainable approach. The initial funds will not only establish a benchmark program in Kibera, it hopes to provide a model for other women in Nairobi and in other parts of Africa.

Train with us

Before being part of JENGA, my understanding of ‘creative arts’ in psychotherapy was limited. I was in awe to learn how to effectively use creative arts, dream analysis and yoga and this has brought a sense of creativity and interest in my profession.”

– Vivian Kudda, Clinical Psychologist and Team Leader MHPSS program in Kyaka II, American Refugee Committee

Inspiring training with an excellent team— The JENGA V Workshop helped me to see the connection between art, creativity and mental health. I highly recommend this course!”

– Fiann Paul, Training Candidate, CG Jung Institute, Zurich, Artist, Athlete, Iceland
